I've been an Ian Blurton fan since I first heard Change of Heart. I enjoyed C'Mon and I'm loving his current band, Public Animal. They are an immensely talented band featuring the dual vocals of Blurton and Caitlin Dacey, who also is the wickedly good keyboard player. The guitar sound is massive and crunchy. It's perhaps the best guitar sound I have ever heard. I stayed glued to the front of the stage for the band's entire set, just to be close to that guitar sound. Dacey's organ sounds are equally massive, rivalling the best sounds Jon Lord ever produced. Backing them up are the fantastic and rock solid rhythm section of Eric Larock on bass and Ryan Gassi on drums.
The Public Animal blends the best of classic rock, amazing riffs, powerful vocals and melodies with wondrous songcraft into a hugely powerful package. Give a listen to their tunes, buy their album on Bandcamp and see this band live. They are incredible. Their next Toronto show is December 12 at The Garrison. I hope to be there.
